Graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Bologna, and specialized with honors at the Ophthalmology Clinic of the same University.
He has always devoted himself to ophthalmic surgery, practicing under master surgeons of international renown such as Doctor Della Rocca, Squillante, and Mackool of New York. He spent many time studying and working in the United States and, in particular, did various internships at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in New York.
He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS), the Società Oftalmologica Italiana (SOI), and the Associazione Italiana di Chirurgia della Cataratta e Refrattiva (AICCER).

Since 1981 he has been working as a self-employed professional in Bologna, where he opened and runs an eyecare center at 2/2 Piazza Trento e Trieste. It is a state-of-the-art structure that has grown over time, following the evolution of research and technology in the field of ophthalmology.
The services offered include complete eye examinations, orthoptic examinations, fluorescein angiography, visual field test, corneal pachymetry, corneal topography, pupillometry, ecobiometry, and OCT. YAG laser and argon laser treatments are performed. Phacoemulsification cataract surgery is performed under local anesthesia with artificial crystalline lens implant; glaucoma, strabismus, eyelid, and tear duct surgery is also performed. Dr. Fioravanti performs excimer laser and femtolasik for the correction of myopia, hypermetropia, and astigmatism.

The center is in constant contact with the Mackool Eye Institute of New York for research and study activities.
From 1981 to the present, Dr. Fioravanti has performed over 20000 surgical procedures.
In 1981 he was one of the first in Italy to implant an artificial crystalline lens for a cataract, a true revolution for the visual rehabilitation of people operated on for this pathology.
In 2004 he was one of the first in the world to successfully implant multifocal crystalline lenses, which permit seeing well at more than one distance without the need for glasses.
Through the years of his professional activity, he has always used the most cutting-edge equipment, constantly following the evolution of technology, which has seen enormous development, especially in cataract surgery with artificial lens implant and in laser surgery.
